CONFRATERNITY MEDITATION FOR OCTOBER 26

“Singleness of mind ensures success.” Gayan of Hazrat Inayat Khan

Annotation by Cherag Hamid Touchon

Have you ever tried to do two or three or four things at the same time? That is to have your attention divided and you will no doubt have found that you were unable to do any of the things well if at all. If you did accomplish something, it was only once you stopped to place your attention on it. This is a limitation that we have; that we are only able to accomplish those things that we put our attention on. But this is also our strength! What we put our attention on, we will be able to accomplish. When this comes to the spiritual life it means that we need to dedicate ourselves to our spiritual unfoldment and this means that everyday we focus our attention on our spiritual goals and not let ourselves become sidetracked by the unending interesting details of life which can distract us for years at a time.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the
other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. The New Testament - Matthew 6:24

A Fikr Practice (silent breath meditation)
