THE LAMP OF THE MESSAGE

I took down a volume from my shelves and have spent most of this local rainy day reading through it.  

I thought some of you may also be interested as the author who founded the French Orthodox Church makes many valid points and the esoteric practice of Orthodoxy is quite close to Sufi practice even in form, as it is identical in essence.  

It is called "A Method of Prayer for Modern Times" and is by Eugraph Kovalevsky. ( Bishop Jean of Saint Denis ). Published by Praxis Institute Press. Perhaps Abil Khayr may have stocks of it via Omega's bookshop.  

The author presents 8 chapters on"Steps to Prayer", another 8 on "The Lord's Prayer", and then 6 chapters on "Commentaries By the Fathers", especially from Origen.  

Although he writes specifically about Orthodox practice of the Jesus prayer, and Hesychia, I was pleased at the Universality of his ideas which speak much to the heart.  

You may wish to check your local library first, as it may not be to everyone's taste.
