     LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

I read the page on Chiapas from top to bottom, and I'm not one to watch the
news on TV or read the paper often , it all seems so depressing . What makes people of any race ,culture , upbringing  or what have you do things like this ? As I read the article I was in shock , the letter written by "Autumn" was heart touching . I felt like a spoiled , greedy white American. The Holidays for me were filled with family, friends , presents , great food , Holiday pay at work , and all without a care in the world . Don't get me wrong I'm very
proud to be an American and very loving of my family and friends , I just wish  everyone could share the love for life that I do.
In short my heart goes out to all the victims and their families . If for one  minute every person could  look at how precious life is ,I feel it would be a  warmer more loving place to live.... look in a mirror or watch a loved one  sleeping . The gift of life is unreplaceable !
    Peace and lots of love
    ~Sean Swanson

Would like to, no, feel compelled to read what is going on. Have been  following this story, read that the mayor hired villagers from one place to  slaughter villagers in another to increase his political clout. The governor  of the statewas reported to have resigned over it.....sources are abc news  from AOl.

However, the report translated into numbers. perhaps my home e-mail can read
    it better.

    hello cecil,

is it possible to post the letters from chiapas to the mail or remove  all those html tags in the document source on the link provided at the bottom of the post i'm referring to so that they can be clipped out?

i want to house these memos on my drive and can't do it without a nightmare of reformatting.

the source code for the memo is loaded with font headers or something.  when you save the page as text and open it in a word program, it has line breaks and paragraphs all over the place.

perhaps you can send it to me as straight text off the list?

a poem is brewing, not to trivialize but to memorialize... i only know
how to deal with the world on my own terms.

i wish to know more.  i want to act.

    neil

    HEY!
    Good job!! Bravo my friend.
Angel has sent me some photos she took which you may use on this site  also.
I have sent them as an attachment!

    Peace,

    brad

A very solid indigenous pastor was killed in the same event.  I have been particularly grieved about what is going on and would like to see a counter offensive of light into the darkness. When I have time I will do some reasearch and keep you up todate with what I Find.
    God bless you
    Yours Greg

    To whom it may concern,

Our deepest sympathy for the terrible massacre of 22 December last in Acteal, Chiapas.

Terible images were seen also here in Macau (S.E. Asia), Portuguese Territory.  Macau Red Cross was contacted by a Portuguese lady, living in Macau, and working in the local radio station, who wishes to adopt the child who was shot during the masacre and treated in hospital, and we think was released recently.  This girl, as referred in the news, is 4 years old whose skull was shattered by a dum-dum bullet and lost her parents in the massacre.
Please can you help us and give us the contact for the 4 year old girl.

    Thank You!
    Macau Red Cross

Forgive my sending what seems like an off-topic post to the 2170 Artists'
List. Let's just say that it's on-topic in that there are, right now, many
dissident artists in Mexico who are likely under the gun -- literally.

    Thanks!
